Additional Items:
Scope Class –
The typical rifles for HP competition use iron sights, but there is also provision
for shooters who want to use a scope sight. If you (or someone you know) would
like to shoot in our matches with a scope sight, what would be fine. Matches shot
with a scope would be counted in a separate category for end-of-season prizes.
Similarly, if someone would like to try using a rifle that is not typical for HP
competition, that would be ok too. Restrictions include: maximum of 35 caliber,
and no ‘muzzle brake’ – due to noise disruption to other shooters.
New 2009 NRA rule change for Rapid Fire stages –
All shooters now start from the shooting position for the stage - starting from
standing has been eliminated. The time limits and the RELOAD procedure are
unchanged. The RELOAD must be done with the rifle completely unloaded.
For loading of the FIRST 2/5 rounds -
M1 Garand: prior to 'commence fire' M1 Garand shooters may place a clip and 2 rounds
in the receiver, 'ready to be loaded' - but with the bolt remaining locked fully
open. After 'commence fire' Garand shooters will fully load the first 2 rounds and shoot.
All other rifles: prior to 'commence fire' the rifle must be completely unloaded.
Ammo in a clip or magazine is to be placed on the ground or on a shooting stool.
After 'commence fire' the shooter will load the clip or magazine and shoot.
