Additional dates and info for Square Deal Sportsmen (SDS) provided by Dave Canfield - dcanfield@xcapmfg.com . March 3, 2020
a. April 18th (Saturday) – Morning relay will be standard 80rnd NRA league. There will be (2) afternoon relays which will be CMP (30) rnd course A. The course of fire for the afternoon relays will be (10)rnds standing, (10)rnds rapid fire from the standing position and (10) rnds prone. Main purpose of the match is for the guys headed to Butner to get solid 200 yard zeros on their rifles. The afternoon relays will be Garand, Military, service rifle and match. Not sure if I can get this CMP approved and up on the CMP competition calendar. If nobody signs up for the afternoon relays, it’s not a problem.
b. June 21st (Sunday) – Morning relay will be standard 80rnd NRA league. There will be (2) afternoon relays which will be CMP (30) rnd course A. The afternoon relays will be CMP sanctioned. Note that this match is scheduled for Sunday, as to not interfere with Broome County’s match, which I assume will be held on Saturday June 20th.
c. July 11th (Saturday) – This match is going to be a retro-highpower 60rnd prone match fired at 200yds. Targets will be 600yd reduced standard Highpower. After I recheck the rules book, it should be an NRA sanctioned prone format. However, the match program will also be different. This match will be .30 caliber US rifles only. This means the rifles will be limited to Springfields, 03A3’s, Garands and M14/M1A1’s. The rifle classes will be either as issue and National Match (unlimited) M1’s and M14/M1A’s. NRA shooter classifications will apply. If we have a good signup I’d like to make this a money match where we payout each class (will have to see). I’m planning on (2) 60rnd prone relays. Trigger weights and front posts will be inspected…….. The main reason for doing this match is that many of us are getting older and some of the positions are getting difficult. We need to keep everyone interested and offer what the shooters want. I will have M1-Garands and ammo available for anyone that doesn’t have a US service stamp or “God and Country” engraved on their receivers’. We have both service rifle and National Match Garands available. All are in good shape for a total of 16 Garands.
