Hobo Bread


For the people that may not know:
A Hobo was the nickname for a person of little means that rode the trains and would cook using a coffee can.

Place in a bowl overnight or for 8 hours

2 cups dark raisins

2 cups boiling water

4 teaspoons baking soda

Next morning add:

2 cups white sugar

4 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon cinnamon

4 cups all-purpose flour

1. Mix thoroughly; Grease and flour three 1 – pound coffee cans, fill each with

Dough half full.

2. Bake one hour at 350 DEGREES let cool for half an hour before removing

from cans

Makes three loaves.
